I love this idea from Pottery Barn Kids furniture catalog! Take an old dresser, cover it with chalkboard paint and…ta-da! Instant decor to match any theme. Using Pottery Barn Kids furniture, they drew a horse for a “cowboy” or “western” themed room – but you could customize this any way you like.
This same idea could be applied to a desk, a bookcase, wastepaper basket or even a headboard.
Of course, if you are anything like Frugal Design Girl, you will do the cute drawing and then hide the chalk so the kiddos can’t mess it up! Keep in mind that a light coat of varnish could be applied to maintain the drawings, but it will limit you from changing it in the future.

Labeling the drawers like the did with the Pottery Barn Kids furniture in the photo is also a great way to get your kids to help with putting the laundry away!

I’ve been looking for something to do to my kids’ old, ugly closet doors that I can’t afford to replace-this is the perfect solution! Thank you FDG! So glad I stumbled onto this site
