  2. I’m looking for extra chairs for my JCPenney kitchen table – model # 796-1089. This table/chairs are no longer in production or available for purchase- any idea where I might be able to find some.

My problem is I currently have seating for six but would like to have the full complement of 8 chairs for when the table is expanded to it’s full size. Thanks so much for your time/advice!

  3. Hi Chris,
Do you have a JC Penneys outlet in your area? If so, make friends with the store manager. They often get in random pieces and parts. For instance, I was able to score the two glass shelves which were missing from my china cabinet when I first purchased it at the outlet. Since they were missing, I was able to get the cabinet at 90% off. I then spoke with the manager and asked him to keep an eye out for the missing glass shelves. He said I might not have any luck, because the whole line had been discontinued. I checked back with him once a week for about 3 months. No luck. I kept checking in about once a month…and approximately 3 months later, two shelves showed up as random parts. He gave them to me for free!!! I was sooo psyched, because replacement shelves through my local glass store were pricing out at around $250. Score!
If you don’t have an outlet in your area, you have a few options. If the table is rectangular, you could always do two different chairs as an accent at the head of the table. If the table is round, you could add chairs of a different (but slightly similar) style, and then spray them all the same color so that they are uniform.
Hope you will check back in with us and let us know what happens. Thanks for reading!

  4. I have been taking advantage of the JC Penney outlets since I had my first apartment in Michigan some, hmmmm, let’s say over 20 years ago. They were a great source then and now. I still have the parsons table that I bought way back then. Those of you looking to save money, this is the place. Enjoy.
